While the canyon is certainly a geologic wonder that truly must be seen to be appreciated, it is at its best when visitors take time to walk its trails, ride a mule, and understand its native peoples. When planning your visit, keep in mind that Grand Canyon is heavily visited for most of the year (averaging more than six million visitors annually) and it is imperative to plan ahead for in-park lodging, dining, motorcoach tours, or mule trips.
